Find and insert a saved template

The Saved templates tab of the element picker lists every section you saved as a template, plus the global templates of your colleagues. Use this page when your list has grown and you need to find one template fast, or remove one you no longer need. To save a template first, see Save a section and reuse it.

The video searches the tab, inserts a template on an empty page, saves it and previews it.

Insert a saved template

  1. Click + on the DXPR Builder toolbar, or on the section or column where the template should go. On an empty page, click Add Elements.
  2. Click the Saved templates tab, the last tab of the picker.
  3. Type part of the name in Search.
  4. Click the template. A copy lands on the page.
  5. Click Save on the DXPR Builder toolbar.

What you see

The tab shows two groups: Private Templates (yours only) and Global Templates (shared with every editor). Each card shows the template's name and its picture, or the icon of its element type when it has none. Your own templates have a trash icon next to them.

Narrow a long list

Control What it does
Search Shows templates whose name contains your text
Filter by user Shows the templates of one author
Filter by type Shows one element type, such as Section, Drupal Block or Custom

Show all in a filter resets it. The filters appear once there are templates to filter.

Delete a template

Click the trash icon next to one of your own templates. It is deleted at once, without a confirmation, and disappears for every editor. Sections already inserted on pages stay, because they are copies. You cannot delete a colleague's template here; an administrator can, at /admin/dxpr_studio/dxpr_builder/user_templates.

Page templates, the full-page layouts, do not appear in this tab. You find them under Choose a template on an empty page; see Start a page from a template.

If you don't see a template

  • The Saved templates tab is empty. Nobody on the site has saved a template you may use yet. Save one with Save as template in an element's More menu.
  • A colleague's template is missing. It is private, or your user profile does not list it. Ask the author to save it as global, or an administrator to tick it under Global user templates at /admin/dxpr_studio/dxpr_builder/profile.
  • The list looks too short. A filter or search is still active. Set both filters to Show all and clear Search.
