Build a page in another language
Give each language its own version of a page. You start from a copy of the original layout and then change text, pictures or even the structure for that audience. Every translation keeps its own layout, so your French page can differ from the English one.
Before you start
- The Language and Content Translation modules are enabled.
- Your languages are added under Configuration >
Regional and language > Languages
(
/admin/config/regional/language). - Translation is on for the content type and for
its DXPR Builder field, under Content language
and translation
(
/admin/config/regional/content-language).
Set up
- Open the content item and click the Translate tab.
- Click Add next to the language you need. The edit form opens with a copy of the original.
- Translate the Title and click Save (this translation).
- Open the new translation. DXPR Builder loads the copied layout.
- Change the text and layout, then click Save on the toolbar.
What you see
Each language now shows its own layout. Editing the French page leaves the English page as it was. A/B tests also run separately per language, so each audience finds its own winner.
To draft text in another language, select it and type an instruction such as "Translate to French" in the Ask AI to edit box. Have a native speaker check the result. See AI text commands.
If you don't see your translation
- Saving fails on a page in another language. The item has no translation in that language yet, and DXPR Builder only saves into an existing one. Add the translation on the Translate tab first.
- Editing one language changes the others too. The DXPR Builder field is not translatable, so all languages share one layout. Tick the field under Content language and translation.
- There is no Translate tab. Translation is off for this content type. Turn it on under Content language and translation.
