Reuse layouts and sections
Build a page in minutes from a ready-made layout, or save your own sections once and reuse them across the site. Templates keep every page on brand without rebuilding it from scratch. The table below points you to the right page for your goal.
| I want to ... | Use | Needs |
|---|---|---|
| start a whole page from a ready-made layout | Start a page from a template | an empty DXPR Builder field |
| reuse one section, such as a call to action, on many pages | Save a section and reuse it | nothing extra |
| find, filter or delete saved templates | Find and insert a saved template | templates saved on the site |
| offer a new page layout to every editor | Add your own page templates | Administer site configuration |
| move templates to another site | Copy templates between sites | Administer site configuration |
Which should I use
A page template fills an empty page with a complete layout. Editors pick it under Choose a template, and only administrators add new ones. Use it for page types you build again and again: landing pages, about pages, event pages.
A user template is one element or section that any editor saves with Save as template. Editors insert it from the Saved templates tab, on empty and full pages alike. Use it for blocks that repeat: headers, calls to action, testimonials. Keep it private for your own drafts, or make it global so every editor gets it.
Both are copies: changing a template later does not change pages that already use it.
Good habits
- Name templates by what they are: "Campus tour call to action", not "My template".
- Review global templates now and then, so they stay on brand.
- Delete templates nobody uses, so the picker stays short.
What's next?
- Start a page from a template: the quickest way to a finished page.
- Save a section and reuse it: build your own library of sections.
