Drupal integrations
DXPR Builder works with the Drupal features you already use: blocks, views, media, translations and more. Find what you want to do in the table below and follow the page it points to.
| I want to ... | Use | Needs |
|---|---|---|
| put a menu, a form or a reusable block in my layout | Drupal Blocks | the Block Content module |
| show a list of news, events or people that updates itself | Drupal Views | the Views module and a view |
| pick pictures from the site's media library | Media library | the Media Library module |
| keep the Entity Browser setup my site already has | Entity Browser | the Entity Browser module |
| combine builder content with Layout Builder sections | Layout Builder | the Layout Builder module |
| change the buttons of the text editor toolbar | CKEditor | a user profile |
| build a different layout for each language | Multilingual | the Language and Content Translation modules |
| choose which content types and fields use the builder | Content types | access to Manage display |
| test two or more versions of a section | A/B testing | the RL module |
Which should I use
Blocks and views both bring Drupal content into a layout. Use a block for one fixed piece, such as a contact form or a menu. Use a view for a list that grows by itself, such as the latest news.
For pictures, Media Library is the recommended browser. Choose Entity Browser only when your site already depends on it.
Layout Builder and DXPR Builder can share a page. Layout Builder arranges the fields of a content type; DXPR Builder edits the content inside one of those fields.
How the builder connects to Drupal
DXPR Builder is a field formatter for text fields. Visitors see the saved layout. Users who may edit the content and have the Edit with DXPR Builder permission see the editor on the same page. The field stores plain HTML, so translations and revisions work as they do for any text field.
