Sites Simple XML Sitemap¶
Sites Simple XML Sitemap gives each site its own /sitemap.xml from
Simple XML Sitemap: the
site's content, with hreflang alternates where other sites serve it in
another language or region. A sub-site under its main site's hostname is
part of its main site's sitemap: Hydrion UK's pages are in the sitemap of
www.hydrion.example. A sub-site with a hostname of its own has a sitemap
of its own. A site decides per content type what its sitemap lists, and a content item can
carry sitemap settings of its own on each site; the hub form's sitemap
section links the page that sets them.
Install¶
A project of its own, drupal.org/project/sites_simple_sitemap:
composer require drupal/sites_simple_sitemap
drush en sites_simple_sitemap
Requires Sites, simple_sitemap (simple_sitemap).
Configure¶
- Open Simple XML Sitemap's inclusion page
(
/admin/config/search/simplesitemap/entities), choose Global, and tick Enabled for the entity types the sitemaps may list. Menu links are not offered per site. - On each site type, set the defaults in the Sitemap rows: per content type Index, Priority, Change frequency and Include images.
- A site changes them in its Sitemap section
(
/admin/sites/{site}/sitemap, Search and metadata group of the dashboard), with Manage site settings or Administer sitemap settings (Site settings). The section of a sub-site under its main site's hostname decides which of its content types join its main site's sitemap.
Simple XML Sitemap generates the sitemaps on cron.
- The sitemaps use the Sites sitemap type
(
/admin/config/search/simplesitemap/types/sites). Of the URL generators, only Entity URL generator works per site. - A site defined in code gets a sitemap only when it holds content.
- The install deletes Simple XML Sitemap's own
defaultsitemap, so the hub answers/sitemap.xmlwith 404. A sitemap you add by hand at/admin/config/search/simplesitemaplists no site content; the hub serves it at/sitemaps/{name}/sitemap.xmlto logged-in users, and to anonymous visitors oncesimple_sitemap.sitemap_variantis among the Anonymous hub routes (Sites UI).
