Industrial group: Valtora

Valtora, a fictional industrial group, runs its corporate site, the sites of its two brands and the country versions of one brand from one Drupal. Every example in these docs comes from this scenario, and the valtora_demo recipe installs it with its content.

Recipe not released yet

The valtora_demo recipe ships with a later release of Sites. Until then, the tables below describe what to set up by hand.

Site types

Site type Holds Notes
Corporate site The group: press releases, careers, the company One site.
Brand site A brand on its own domain Hydrion and Torqline; a new brand starts as a clone of one.
Regional site A country version of a brand, under the brand's path Offers the Region setting: Hydrion UK is GB, Hydrion US is US. Run by the main site's people.

All three types let articles and basic pages belong to any number of sites and tags to one site, offer the roles Content editor and Site manager per site, and let a site override the title and body of shared content.

Nobody holds a role on every site. Mara runs Hydrion without seeing Torqline; Tom publishes the group's news without touching the brands.

Content

  • The press release "Valtora opens a new test center" belongs to Valtora and shows on Hydrion and Torqline. Hydrion gives it its own title: "Hydrion pumps at the new Valtora test center".
  • The product page "Hydrion X5 circulation pump" belongs to Hydrion and shows on Hydrion UK and US. Hydrion UK adds its delivery note to the body.
  • Every site has its own About or Contact page, its own front page and its own main navigation.

Modules

The recipe installs Sites, Sites content, Sites UI, Sites menu, Sites path prefix, Sites path alias, Sites preview and Sites content overrides (Modules), with core's Path and Custom menu links modules and the Article, Basic page and Content editor recipes.

Install

On a new Drupal 11.4 install of the Standard profile:

composer require drupal/sites drupal/sites_content_overrides
vendor/bin/dr recipe:apply modules/contrib/sites/recipes/valtora_demo

dr reads the recipe's path from the web root. The sites answer on their .example hostnames; to reach them on a local install, give them local hostnames in an environment of their own (Hostnames per environment). To log in as one of the people, set a password with drush user:password mara or use drush user:login --name=mara.
