City: Kesterby¶

Kesterby, a fictional city, runs its portal, the sites of its departments and institutions, and the pages of its districts from one Drupal. Notices that concern everyone go out once and show on every site.

Planned recipe

A kesterby_demo recipe with this structure and example content is planned. Until it ships, the tables below describe what to set up by hand.

Site types¶

Site type	Holds	Notes
Portal	Services, notices, the council	One site.
Institution site	A library, museum or utility with its own audience	Its own hostname, theme and webforms.
District site	A district's news and contacts	Under the portal's path; run by the portal's people.

People¶

People	Roles
Central editorial team	Site manager and Content editor on the portal, so on the districts
Department editors	Content editor on their institution's site

Content¶

A notice of the portal, like road works or an emergency, belongs to the portal and shows on every district and institution site.
Opening hours of the library belong to the library's site and show on the district sites near a branch; a district overrides the address of its branch.
Each institution lists and offers its own webforms (Webforms).

Install¶

composer require drupal/sites drupal/sites_content_overrides
vendor/bin/dr recipe:apply modules/contrib/sites/recipes/kesterby_demo

The command works once the recipe is released.
