Sites language

Gives each site its own languages, default language and language detection. On a site's hostname, a language the site does not speak does not exist: the language switcher, language detection, views and hreflang links leave it out, and a content page in it answers 404. Hydrion can add French on its own domain, fr.hydrion.example, while Torqline keeps English only; the hub speaks every language.

Install

Ships with Sites; with that project in the codebase:

drush en sites_language

Requires Sites, language (core).

Configure

  • Add every language any site needs on the hub at /admin/config/regional/language, choosing Global (Languages).
  • A site's Languages section, in the Regional and language group of its dashboard, sets the languages it speaks and its default (Languages per site). Its Detection and selection tab sets the detection methods, their order and their settings for the site, like a domain per language (Language detection per site).
  • The Enabled languages and Default language rows of the site type preset both. Without a preset, a new site speaks every platform language and uses the platform's default.

Settings

The setting plugins it adds, with their keys on Site settings:
