Remove a populated sub-field

Start with the Conference session and its populated note. Removal affects every host field using this compound.

Deletion includes historical values

Removing a sub-field drops its current and revision columns. Reverting a content revision cannot restore it. Back up the database and export needed values before confirming.

Inspect, then remove

  1. Review Conference session's uses under Structure → Compound fields.
  2. Rehearse on a database copy. Record the title, topics and note.
  3. Open Conference session → Manage fields → Internal note → Delete.
  4. Read and confirm the deletion for all uses.
  5. Reopen affected conferences. Check that Internal note is absent and other values remain. Check other host fields using this compound too.

You cannot remove the final sub-field. Retire the compound instead. Deleted host-field data awaiting purge can block structural changes. Configuration imports need a single-use declaration.
