Widgets and formatters¶
A compound's Manage form display selects shared sub-field widgets; Manage display selects formatters. New sub-fields use their Drupal field plugin's defaults. Compatible field modules supply additional choices. Try Address, Media Library and references.
Override one host field¶
On the host content type's Manage form display, expand the compound widget's settings and use Sub-widgets for this field. On Manage display, use Sub-formatters for this field. Unchanged settings follow the shared defaults; overrides affect only this field instance.
Drag the sub-field rows, or use Show row weights, to give this field instance its own sub-field order. While the order matches the shared display, the field keeps following it; once you reorder, the field keeps its own order, and sub-fields added to the compound later appear after the others. Drag the rows back into the shared order to follow the shared display again.
Under Sub-field layout, choose Stacked or Inline columns and set widths for the latter.
Enable Compound Field: Layout Builder sub-field blocks to arrange individual sub-fields on the host layout.
