Events

Work on Community Events is well underway. This page tracks where the workstream stands and what comes next.

Overview

The first phase focuses on reaching feature parity with the existing D7 Community Events. Once the new version matches what the D7 site offers, we can begin using it in place of the D7 versions.

Design

• The design for individual events is complete.
• The design for the new events landing page is in progress.

Tasks and issue queues

The team is assembling a list of tasks and components that need to be built. These will be filed into the relevant issue queues — some on drupal.org, and some on the bluecheese theme.

Timeline

We are targeting:

• End of September — finish theming individual events.
• End of November — complete the events landing page.

Things could move faster once the work really gets rolling. That said, with summer vacations and a limited number of contributors, this timeline (or somewhat longer) feels realistic.

Toward Groups integration

Hitting these milestones would put the project on track to start thinking about Groups integration by the end of the year. Many wishlist features won’t be ready by then, but it’s best to get Groups integration going early: as new features are added, they can be built to work well both with and without a group context, rather than requiring a later refactor to support groups.
