The GTFS ecosystem

These Drupal modules build on each other. Start with GTFS, add realtime or GTFS+ data as your feeds require, then pick the display modules for what you want to put on screen.

How they fit together

  • GTFS imports static feeds and gives every file in the spec an entity. Everything else depends on it.
  • GTFS Realtime ingests Trip Updates, Vehicle Positions and Service Alerts and exposes them over REST.
  • GTFS+ adds entity types for the MTC extension files.
  • GTFS 511 provisions static and realtime feeds from the 511 SF Bay API.
  • GTFS Schedule renders route timetables, locally or against a remote GTFS server.
  • GTFS Display renders live stop, route and system boards for kiosks.
  • GTFS Display Map draws route shapes and stops with MapLibre GL.
  • GTFS Display Map RT adds live vehicles to those maps and an embeddable map variant.
